Tektronix Scope Repair Info

Over the years I've repaired several Tektronix scopes, both at home and at work. I'm placing some information here that I've reverse-engineered, in the hope that it's useful to other people fixing their scopes.

TDS Colour Display

Hand drawn details of Display board (marked 672-1402-05) which is used in TDS544A TDS644A TLS216 and many other TDS models with colour screens. I didn't trace either the CRT base board or the LCD shutter control board, since the fault I was trying to investigate was in the deflection/power area.

Note that it is necessary to have the horizontal scan coils connected when debugging this board on the bench (otherwise the horizontal output stage gets unhappy and its transistor overheats).

A working board draws about 1.4A on the 25V supply.
